So I’m sitting here with a crazy hangover from last night in Williamsburg, by the time last call came at 4am making my way to the local taco joint, getting on the L train to head a few stops home, finally getting home around 6am and waking back up at 9am to do some emails, posts, blogs, morning dump and how much longer could this sentence run on…… I should have taken some regiments last night and I would already be at the BBQ filling my cup back up. This is the last weekend for Coney Island to be open, the yuppie developers are building some super expensive high rises over a land mark. So you know I will be there all Monday getting my last rides in on the Cyclone, getting my last side show, Nathans hotdog on the boardwalk and one last swim in the water looking at Astroland. I wonder were Nathan’s will hold the World Famous Hotdog eating championships?
Anyways, enough of my hungover ramblings…. I was thinking since some folks never get a subscription to TWS or Snowboard Mag that I would do you a favor and just hit you up with the highlights.
The new Snowboard Mag’s buyers guide has to be one of the nicest guides to hit the stand this season. So here is some details for you to swallow. Euro shred from the Deeluxe Boots Rene Schnoeller gets a CAPiTA base shot in the Gallery section, Four Platinum Picks for the brands. Meaning the people writing the mag pick out their favorite products, Defcon Northwest Passage gets a nod along with three models of Union Binders (Force, Contact and the Trilogy), Ads from Coal featuring Jordan Mendenhal, Capita with Jonas Carlson and Union with Danny Kass, TJ has a Bern Helmet Ad and finally product pages feature Capita, Coal, Defcon and Union. The new Transworld Snowboarding’s Buyers Guide had dropped a while ago but should still be able to get it if you put in some work. This is what we got, Open picture “TWScompilation”, Danny Kass on the cover, plus he gets a pro set up check out with his Unions. Dan Brisse pulls a pro set up also in a select group of top pro’s, Devun Walsh’s pro set up lists his Unions as “DC prototypes” when clearly they are Trilogy’s, Capita makes the TWS Good Wood awards once for a second year in a row. Last year the Indoor got the Top 10 good wood for boards over $400 along with the MHT pulling in a Top 5 Good Wood as a pipe deck. THIS YEAR, the Stairmaster/Scaremaster pull gold with Top 10 under $400. On the women’s side the Saturnia gets the women’s gold for Top 10 under $400, Food Court Gangsta backs up last years MHT’s Top 5 Good Wood for pipe decks with another Gold, Union, CAPITA and Coal all have ads in this featuring Brisse, Mikey and TJ, A product check out section where Coal gets some favorable attention above all other brands, Same goes for Defcon with TJ’s glove and Dustin Craven with the pull out passport that Oakley did with him.
I got an email from Blue today that said "It's not every day that we're blessed with the front cover of the biggest snowboard magazine in the world. In fact, we've only had one CAPiTA Transworld cover ever, until now." Just look at that Redbull feature, shit is dope. Ontop of that, the base shot gave me an ear to ear smile.
In my opinion, Dustin is going to become a very well known household name in Snowboarding & I'm stoked that Transworld gave him the cover. The kid puts his work in and rips.
Outkast Sports is making a big push for a Skate Park in Vernon. These guys have already raised $5K towards the park. Now they have come up with another great idea thats outside the box to raise more money towards the park. Do your part and help support this great cause. We need more skate parks in the East. So this Saturday August 16th is the Back to the Banks Contest. Brooklyn takes days after this contest to recover from all the pro's in town. I have been saving my liver & knee for Saturday...
