So, its been a long time since I have hit this Blog up with any info....... Just been so busy with Ambiguous, Coal Spring 10, Art Shows, Lappy HArd Drive taking a shit, Gorilla Marketing, Suing the Landlord, Trade Shows, Sales Meetings and all sorts of shit since the last time you read this Blog.... Just got back from a Vacation in L.A chillin with my Homegirl Julia and Homie Chad, Lets just say It was a wild time and also a relaxing time. Think I may have messed up the old leg this time..... Had to show off a little with the 12 O'clock Stoppies, but forgot that I had enough beers in me to make Boozie the Clown pass out. Flour City would like to send our thought’s and prayers for a needed friend of the Skateboard Community... Skatopia's Brewce Martin was seriously injured, receiving major head trauma in a freak accident at a tire shop near Skatopia. Apparently, he was standing next to the tire mounting machine and it exploded. All we know at present time, is that he is currently in surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

I've got to show some love for my home town Rochester NY. If you have never been to Rochester, its been a city of hardship for many years…. Its a very small city where everyone knows everyone which can be good or bad. It’s a city full of musicians, artist and corrupt politicians (Not all, just the ones that wasted how many millions of dollars on a Ferry that went to Toronto how many times). Anyways, Rochester is home for me and I’m glad to see great guys Like Aaron & Alan at Krudco working very hard with James Maddison on a public Skate Park.

First off I’d like to thank our old inhouse girl Taylor for putting this video to my attention. I’d also like to thank Aaron for still having respect for how things use to be made with pride…. You look around everyday and see how many things are lost in this country and how much less pride is put into building off of what our culture once was.

Maybe I just nerd out too much on 50’s American culture, but to me that’s when men were men. Pride was put into building anything and everything.

Spring Time Blues

Spring is here, I’m out of loot for an unfinished project back up in Rochester. Anyone that knows me, knows that I rode a dirt bike before a bicycle. I was 4 years old when I got my first dirt bike, a PW50 and if that wasn’t enough my old man had my uncle hop up the engine so the thing would keep up with big wheel 80’s.

Anyways, kinda bum’n that I don’t have the money to finish the Ironhead project. This makes summer #2 for me and no motorcycle. Maybe this coming winter I will be able to finish the project and come out next summer doing 80mph rolling burn outs…

R.I.P Shane McConkey

The legendary skier died in a Ski Base Jumping accident in Italian Dolomites at the age of 39.

"According to ESPN, McConkey experienced problems in the air after launching off a cliff with the expectation of deploying his parachute canopy and then gliding down to the ground. A witness said a ski failed to come off in the air, causing McConkey to spin out of control, preventing him from deploying his parachute."

My condolences go out to his family, wife and 3½-year-old daughter...

So once again we are off to the ugliest city of all.... Las Vegas….. If it wasn’t for SIA, I would never even go to Las Vegas. It’s a miserable city full of over priced drinks, noisy ass slot machines, over priced dinners, uncomfortable rooms and on and on…. But for some reason, every year I have a good time, see some bro ho’s trying to get more pro dick in their mouths, bands, parties and most of all my retail shops. Its really a big ass party in the Snowboard world, which sucks for Reps like myself that really just wanna get work done and get out. We all know, I'm the first guy to the bar and last guy to get home... But its to painful to drag ass all day at a trade show.

This is the last year for Vegas and for years to come it will be In the great city of Denver. Now that’s something to be stoked on. Denver is one of my all time favorite cities in the world….. At least I will not be in a desert trying to sell snowboard gear and will be in a snow filled city with resorts. On top of all that, Ive got some really good homies in Denver that need more of me in their life.

Global Warming

So for years there has been so much talk about Global Warming and I for one think that people should be more conscious of being and acting green, but with the way the weather has been I don’t see it. I get non-stop phone calls from all my pals that made their way out west over the years telling me about all the POW the have been slashing….. AWESOME! The East has seen a ton of cold weather, which has been keeping the resorts pumping snow guns and some natural has been falling our way too….. So is that Global Warming as Gore would say it? Vegas even got some snow this season.

Yeah, everyone should be more conscious about the environment. I know Capita, Union and Coal have really stepped up to do their part. I cannot drop picks yet, but just stay tuned.

So its been a while since I have posted anything on here. I have been extremely busy in life with Flour City Dist. Some updates for you….

I just got back from Europe again with the boys at C3 Worldwide, not just anywhere….. We devoured Rome Italy like no others have before. This trip to Rome was to see all of next seasons 09/10 product and my hat goes off to everyone at C3 for really stepping it up. Not only did the new product offerings blow my mind, but the way C3 takes care of us during these sales meetings is unreal. Everything from the super posh hotel, to the food & cocktails is on some next level shit…. Other sales reps that work for super big companies do not even come close to getting the hospitality of what these guys do for us.

Been Super Busy

It’s the season again, being a road warrior, phone minutes through the roof, GPS keeping you on course, working sales, video premieres, Chasing Spring orders, sleeping on friends couches throughout the territory, random bars in the middle of no where, emails till your finger tips feel like they are gonna fall off and its all worth it… Next thing you know, I’ll be in Italy for the C3 Winter Sales meeting and following that is 3 months of non-stop trade shows & finishing up the season with some pals on our North Western Road / Shred trip. I’ll work on keeping you up to date with photo’s of the next few months, as they should be a bit crazy like always.

Labor Day Weekend Updates

So I’m sitting here with a crazy hangover from last night in Williamsburg, by the time last call came at 4am making my way to the local taco joint, getting on the L train to head a few stops home, finally getting home around 6am and waking back up at 9am to do some emails, posts, blogs, morning dump and how much longer could this sentence run on…… I should have taken some regiments last night and I would already be at the BBQ filling my cup back up. This is the last weekend for Coney Island to be open, the yuppie developers are building some super expensive high rises over a land mark. So you know I will be there all Monday getting my last rides in on the Cyclone, getting my last side show, Nathans hotdog on the boardwalk and one last swim in the water looking at Astroland. I wonder were Nathan’s will hold the World Famous Hotdog eating championships?

Anyways, enough of my hungover ramblings…. I was thinking since some folks never get a subscription to TWS or Snowboard Mag that I would do you a favor and just hit you up with the highlights.

The new Snowboard Mag’s buyers guide has to be one of the nicest guides to hit the stand this season. So here is some details for you to swallow. Euro shred from the Deeluxe Boots Rene Schnoeller gets a CAPiTA base shot in the Gallery section, Four Platinum Picks for the brands. Meaning the people writing the mag pick out their favorite products, Defcon Northwest Passage gets a nod along with three models of Union Binders (Force, Contact and the Trilogy), Ads from Coal featuring Jordan Mendenhal, Capita with Jonas Carlson and Union with Danny Kass, TJ has a Bern Helmet Ad and finally product pages feature Capita, Coal, Defcon and Union.
The new Transworld Snowboarding’s Buyers Guide had dropped a while ago but should still be able to get it if you put in some work. This is what we got, Open picture “TWScompilation”, Danny Kass on the cover, plus he gets a pro set up check out with his Unions. Dan Brisse pulls a pro set up also in a select group of top pro’s, Devun Walsh’s pro set up lists his Unions as “DC prototypes” when clearly they are Trilogy’s, Capita makes the TWS Good Wood awards once for a second year in a row. Last year the Indoor got the Top 10 good wood for boards over $400 along with the MHT pulling in a Top 5 Good Wood as a pipe deck. THIS YEAR, the Stairmaster/Scaremaster pull gold with Top 10 under $400. On the women’s side the Saturnia gets the women’s gold for Top 10 under $400, Food Court Gangsta backs up last years MHT’s Top 5 Good Wood for pipe decks with another Gold, Union, CAPITA and Coal all have ads in this featuring Brisse, Mikey and TJ, A product check out section where Coal gets some favorable attention above all other brands, Same goes for Defcon with TJ’s glove and Dustin Craven with the pull out passport that Oakley did with him.

I got an email from Blue today that said "It's not every day that we're blessed with the front cover of the biggest snowboard magazine in the world. In fact, we've only had one CAPiTA Transworld cover ever, until now." Just look at that Redbull feature, shit is dope. Ontop of that, the base shot gave me an ear to ear smile.

In my opinion, Dustin is going to become a very well known household name in Snowboarding & I'm stoked that Transworld gave him the cover. The kid puts his work in and rips.

Vernon Skate Park Memorial Organization

The VSMO is a non-profit organization committed to fundraising money and efforts for a skate park in Vernon NJ. As you all know, Mountain Creek is in Vernon NJ which on the East we like to call The Dity Jerz version of the Alps A.K.A The home of Danny Kass

This weekend, Outkast Sports will be hosting a BBQ & Bands to raise money for the park. If you have nothing better to do this Saturday, swing through and have some beers, listen to some music and grub some food.

Outkast told me they will donate 15% of all food and drink purchases and 100% of all ticket sales. This all goes directly into the skate fund!

Indoor Snowboarding

So I'm sitting here wishing it was winter, trying to beat the heat. Its been in the 90's non stop all summer in Brooklyn. Once I step out of the Air conditioned apartment I’m instantly drenched in sweat. I’d give anything for it to be October already.

Anyways, the new Indoor Ski / Snowboard area should be up and running in the dirty Jerz real soon. Then the only thing I have to deal with is every asshole on the subway asking me why I have a snowboard in my hand in the middle of a heat wave.

Following that, we went to catch the Flogging Molly show.....It was one of the best shows they have ever played. Some Rochester LOVE was shown, Pit was incredible with many helping hands for the drunken idiots, girls were just..... Yeah you know! So peep some of the pics out.... I'm only drop'n a few. I know its been a while..... Its hard when you live in a city where 3hrs goes bye in an hour. The hustle and bustle keeps you super busy.

I just got back from attending the best sales meeting ever hosted by the one and only’s from C3 Worldwide. Prior to this trip I have never been to Europe and was already stoked to see Germany & Austria. I have to say the boys at C3 took it to a whole another level.

Not only did we do the tourist style or what you would call 30 of us devouring bars / restaurants / hotels / trains, we went to the Elan Snowboard factory, seen product almost finished for 09/10.…

I will drop pics of the trip soon. I’m just super busy with the Project NY show, getting clinic season dialed and my trade shows lined up which has many stories in itself. Harold Hunter Day 2

The second annual Harold Hunter Day will take place May 17th in New York with a series of events planned. The day will start off at the Manhattan Bridge Skatepark (corner of Pike & Monroe Streets in Chinatown) with a skate jam going on from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Live music will come courtesy of Pete Rock and DJ's Neil Nice and Vinny Ponte. The after party will take place later that night at KCDC Skateshop in Williamsburg Brooklyn. The 21+ event will feature free drinks, live music, art installations and photographs of Harold by the way of acclaimed photographer Giovanni Reda.

So we sat down at the Flour City round table and discussed the great opportunities of working with Russ Pope and Brian Osborne again. We feel that these guys have a great vision and really fit into our programs. Finally we are starting to feel more and more dialed everyday. We have been cutting back the fat and dropping brands that take more work then they pay out or dropping brands that take accounts in house and give you the finger for your hard work and dedication. So with that said, Beloe and Myrtle have been on our minds since we had seen them at ASR.

Beloe and Myrtle really fits that Alife & Creative Rec kid…. but more rooted into the Skateboard culture. As you all may or may not know, Russ Pope has been in the industry for some time doing his thing. (If your not up on some knowledge check out http://www.russpope.com/ and get some knowledge). We had worked with him before on the Duffs program years back and really enjoyed his vision, but had to watch his hands be tied.

The momentum Beloe is already having is crazy! Co-op shoe with Skateboard Magazine! Ethan Fowler pro shoe! Sneaker heads in LA eating it up, shops having a great sell through and really getting behind the brands. What more could you ask for?

So its been a minute since any updates. Tons of things have been in the works since the last post. We have been moving our operations to Brooklyn. Yeah, I know… Your all going to miss us in Western NY.
So we are super excited and working on our showroom in Brooklyn. Plus we have some new additions to the Flour City program. We have added Alex Price to our sales team, added Holden Outerwear and still working out the details for Beloe Footwear & Myrtle Stuff. Alex will be heading up some of his own things, but mainly helping with the Flour City programs. Ohh yeah, our online showroom will be ready to launch shortly!
We are working hard to get everything dialed in the next month or so. There also has been some talking about bringing back another brick and mortar store. We are just glad to be away from Rochester NY
